Everyday air pollution tied to worse memory, even at 'safe' levels

A McMaster University study of 6,878 middle-aged Canadians found that higher everyday exposure to particle and traffic-gas pollution tracked with worse memory and mental speed, and with small signs of brain injury on scans, even where the air is rated clean by international standards.

Heart attack patients carried more microplastics in their blood

Researchers in Rome and Verona measured plastic particles in the coronary blood of 61 patients having angiography. The particles turned up far more often in heart attack patients, though a smoking history predicted their presence better than the heart attack itself.
