A trial in Nature Communications tested a once-daily GLP-1 tablet in 235 Chinese adults with obesity. The top dose beat placebo by about 7 percentage points over 26 weeks, with the usual gut side effects.

A study in The Lancet Regional Health - Americas followed 142,041 US adults. Those highest for activity and diet quality had 46% lower chronic disease risk, and the effect held after accounting for body weight at several life stages.

Berberine is sold as nature's Ozempic, a comparison it does not earn. It genuinely lowers blood sugar and some lipids, on small and limited trials; the weight-loss claim driving the marketing is the weakest part.
