Zinc is one of the most-bought supplements in the world and one of the least-tested against hard outcomes. A JAMA trial randomized 100 Ugandan children under five and counted every infection for six months.

Special spectacle lenses cut children's myopia progression by 71% over two years in a US trial
Myopia-control lenses worked in Asian children but had not been tested in the US. A double-masked JAMA Ophthalmology trial randomized 159 children aged 6 to 12 and found less myopia progression and less eye elongation over 24 months.

London's clean air zone restored children's lung growth, and four years later the deficit was gone
A Lancet Public Health natural experiment tracked 3,209 children in London and Luton for five years. London children started with smaller lungs, grew them 10 mL a year faster after the ULEZ, and finished level with the comparison town.

PlaySmart video game nudged teen depression scores down a point over a year
Dartmouth researchers gave 532 teenagers either PlaySmart, a game about spotting depression and asking for help, or commercial games. A year on, the PlaySmart group scored a point lower for depression. Anxiety did not move.
